GEMINI’S WOKE SNAFU

You know that nice ol’ saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions?”

Well, Google’s been paving that road one disaster at a time.

They got into hot water this week, when people started using Gemini to create historical images.

How bad is it?

Well, I’ll just let you take a look for yourself:

Looks a little different than the history you were taught in school eh?

Google’s attempts at racial and gender diversity have created a model that’s just a little too woke to be accurate.

After all the backlash online, Google addressed the issue, calling it “off the mark,” and suspended Gemini's ability to create images of people.

But, of course, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

And people started really going at it:

The outputs of these models are the direct result of how it was trained, which reflects the values of the people that built it... aka Google engineers.

Now are all AI models biased to some degree?

Of course, but people hold Google to a different standard.

And it looks like this is just the tip of the iceberg for these guys.

Let’s just say it’s a good week not to be Sundar…
