🍪 Zuck's Vision Pro review, plus Lyft says, "my bad"

But for real, is it just me or did everyone else also learn that it's "teh-moo" not "tee-moo?"

LYFT SAYS, “MY BAD”

You know the saying, “there are no mistakes in life, just lessons learned?” 

Well Lyft learned a big lesson this week when it reported earnings.  

Overall, it was a strong earnings readout all around, where they met revenue expectations and beat on earnings per share.

But investors’ ears really perked up when Lyft said that their profit margin would increase by 500 basis points, or 5%.

5%? Count me in!!

The stock shot up 67% on the news. 

As it turns out, the poor finance analyst putting their earnings report together meant 50 basis points, or 0.5%, sending the stock crashing back down and erasing most of the gains. 

All we know is, whoever sold Lyft stock on Tuesday made a killing. 

HOT OUT OF THE OVEN

ZUCK’S VISION PRO REVIEW

Zuck reviewed the Vision Pro this week on his IG reels and unsurprisingly, he concluded that Quest 3 is the better device. 

Yeah no sh*t, Sherlock. 

But listen to his rationale and thoughts on the ecosystem. 

Why Zuck thinks Quest 3 is the superior headset: 

• Price, since the Vision Pro is $3.5K vs the Quest 3, which is ~$500

• Meta has a deeper immersive content library than Apple

• The Quest 3 weighs 120g less than the Vision Pro

• The Quest 3 allows for greater range of motion since it’s unwired and has a wider field of view than the Vision Pro

• Quest’s combination of hand tracking and physical controls is great especially for gaming

Where he admits Apple has the lead:

• Higher resolution display

• Better eye tracking

(Not mentioned: Apple’s deep hardware expertise and existing developer ecosystem… ) 

He then went into a whole spiel about how all platforms have open and closed ecosystems, and said that Meta would be the open ecosystem to Apple’s walled garden. 

Sound like iOS and Android, anyone? 

So… where’s Google in all this? 

Well, last year, they announced a partnership with Samsung/Qualcomm to launch mixed reality headsets this year. 

But rumor has it, it’s still at least another year away, making them more than a few years late to the game. 

We’ll be following where they land in all this and whether Meta’s head start can help them muscle their way to the top.
